Hola everyone! My journey towards learning Spanish this semester was interesting, entertaining, exciting and one that will last a lifetime.
Going back to my days in secondary school, I remember that I never really liked doing the subject Spanish. But coming to C.P.C.E and being introduced to the most wonderful and fun-loving teacher Ms Verbena Wilburg. It changes my whole concept of learning and understanding the subject Spanish.
What fascinated me the most was the way in which Ms Wilburg portrays her lessons. She always maintained a low affective filter classroom, giving her students the opportunity of not being afraid to ask questions and making mistakes. Also the introduction to technology, using the computers to complete the necessary task, browsing the internet, learning to make comments, learning to blog and most of all, working in your own spare time at your own convenience, was like a dream come true. I always thought that working with computers would have been complicated, but having met Ms Wilburg everything seems easy.
I remember her always saying “ah warning ayo” and when there is outstanding task to do, remembering her phrase, you knew you have to complete it.
What I enjoyed the most was creating my wiki space, making the pop-up book, paper bags and socks puppets. I never knew that these things were so simple to make and how much it will help us teachers in our classroom. Thus, it makes learning exciting.
I would recommend that teachers of today should try and change their method of teaching by introduced the use of technology into their classrooms, rather than using only the old fashion chalk and board method, since technology captures the eyes of everyone, like the way in which Ms Wilburg portrays all of her lessons to her students.
What I dislike is that Spanish will not be taught to us in the next semester and as such, our opportunities of working online, using technology in our classrooms will ease.
In conclusion, I can now say that this course outline was wonderfully set and presented to us, especially with the use of computers. Even though it was challenging at times, we all gained the best out of it. And to you Ms Wilburg thank you for your support and guidance, we will all miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
